About Me

Empowering Movement, Enhancing Lives

I’m a self-confessed movement geek! I love learning about how the body works and why. If you’re experiencing discomfort, I’ll explore ways to recreate that feeling in my own body to better understand what’s happening and how we can help.

Living with a long-term health condition has shaped my approach—I don’t believe anyone is broken or needs fixing. Instead, we all have movement and compensation patterns that may contribute to discomfort. My job is to help you recognise these patterns and gently guide your body toward healthier movement.

The Early Days

Growing up, I was highly active and competed internationally in sport. Injuries were a big part of my journey, and looking back, I realise many could have been prevented with a better understanding of my body. That awareness deepened after my ME/CFS diagnosis in 2006, which forced me to shift from intense activity to pacing and rest. This led to my passion for nutrition—I had spent years under-fuelling in a competitive environment, and once I focused on nourishing my body properly, I saw real improvements. I now love helping others find simple, sustainable ways to improve their energy and health through food.

Determined to keep movement in my life, I turned to yoga—only to find myself in fast-paced, competitive classes that left me exhausted! Then I discovered Dru Yoga, and everything changed. I left my first class feeling stretched, calm, and energised. By my second class, I was already asking how I could train to teach it!

I left my first class feeling stretched, calm, and energised. By my second class, I was already asking how I could train to teach it!

That was the start of my deep dive into movement and body mechanics. During my teacher training, I often had to adapt postures or visualise them when my energy was low, which reinforced my belief that movement should be accessible to everyone. Since then, I’ve qualified in back care and mental wellbeing, become a Restore Your Core teacher, and completed further training on all the major joints of the body.

The Biggest Lessons

The biggest shift in my journey has been learning to accept my diagnosis, stop fighting it, and focus on what I can do rather than what I can’t. That’s the mindset I bring to my teaching—helping you move in ways that feel good, work for your body, and support your long-term health.

The other part of acceptance has been recognising that I don’t have to be perfect. Learning to work with my body rather than against it means being realistic about my limits. Whilst I’m now much more active, I still have to pace myself—and sometimes I get it wrong. That’s all part of the journey, and it’s absolutely okay!

These three words sum up the mission of Active-Eat. Here’s a little insight into each of them:

Function

I’m here to help you improve your mobility, strength, and flexibility. Functional movement allows us to move through life with ease, and I truly believe that no one is ‘broken’ and in need of fixing. Simple, effective techniques can help us adjust our movement patterns, making a real difference to our overall health and wellbeing.

Fuel

We all know that eating well supports a better quality of life. I love helping people feel their best by guiding them to make easy, personalised food swaps. This can be as part of classes or 1-1 sessions or my online products. But fuel isn’t just about what we eat – it’s also about what we feed our minds. That’s why all of my movement sessions include guided relaxation techniques.

Flow

Life is all about ebbing and flowing – things are always changing, I believe that the key to lasting change lies in incorporating mobility, flexibility, and fuel into your daily routine. Together, we'll find ways to weave these practices into your day-to-day life – whether that’s stretching while waiting for the kettle to boil or yummy snacks that give you more energy.
